Connect Shopify to Bunni: every order a sales invoice with the right VAT per line
Bunni books every invoice line to a category at a VAT rate and ties the invoice to a contact. With a Shopify store you recreate that by hand today, order by order: invoice, customer, rate per line. Schakel does it for you. For every Shopify order a sales invoice appears in Bunni, on the revenue category you choose, with the customer as a contact and the Bunni rate you assign to that situation.

What travels across the link
Everything this connector moves between Shopify and Bunni, and how often.
-
A sales invoice per order
Line items, discounts and shipping land separately on the invoice, with the order number as the booking description. Bunni numbers the invoice with your own invoice number template.
-
Customers as contacts
Every customer becomes a contact in Bunni, marked as a customer. Someone who orders again stays one contact: Schakel recognises the customer by their email address.
-
The right VAT rate per line
Schakel looks at the VAT Shopify charged on each line and where the customer lives, and picks the Bunni rate you assign to that. A basket mixing 9% and 21% gets the right rate per line, a business customer in the EU a reverse-charge rate and a sale outside the EU the export rate.
-
Credit notes for cancellations and refunds
A cancelled or refunded order that was already invoiced is reversed with a credit note for exactly what went back, at the same rates and on the same categories as the invoice.
What Shopify to Bunni saves you
- No more retyping orders into Bunni, even on busy days.
- The VAT rate per line is right, including a basket mixing 9% and 21% or a sale outside the EU.
- Refunds become credit notes at the same rates and categories as the invoice.
- An order does not end up in your books twice, even if something goes wrong along the way.
Setting it up
- 01
Connect your Shopify store
You connect your store from the Schakel dashboard. That is where Schakel reads the orders.

- 03
Pick your categories and rates
You pick your invoice design, your revenue category and which Bunni VAT rate belongs to which situation. Schakel proposes what matches your rates.

Common questions
Do my customers receive anything from Schakel?
No. Schakel creates the invoice and the contact in Bunni and sends your customer nothing. Shopify already sends its own order confirmation.
Can the same order be booked twice?
No. Every invoice carries a fixed reference, and Bunni uses that reference precisely to prevent duplicate invoices. So even if something goes wrong on our side, an order does not end up in your books twice.
Are payments processed too?
You link those in Bunni itself: Bunni marks an invoice paid as soon as you link it to the bank transaction that paid it, as with your other invoices. Schakel books the sale.
Does this handle sales to other EU countries?
Yes. If you are under the OSS threshold, Schakel books the sale at your Dutch rate. If you file OSS, Schakel books the sale without Dutch VAT and the foreign VAT separately, so it stays out of your Dutch return. A sale outside the EU gets the export rate.
Can I still book older orders?
Yes. You set a start date in the past and Schakel fetches that period after all, a week at a time.
How do I start with the Shopify to Bunni integration?
Create a Schakel account and pick this integration. You need a Shopify store on a paid plan and a Bunni API key. You can try it free for 30 days.
Can you connect Shopify to Bunni?
Yes. Schakel connects through the official APIs of Shopify and Bunni, so you install nothing on your own server and nothing travels outside those two parties.
Which VAT rate do my sales get in Bunni?
The rate is set per line: 21%, 9% or 0%. Sales to Belgium and other EU countries get the rate of the destination country, ready for your OSS return.
