What you get during the trial
You start with 30 days unlimited, so no limit on the number of items per month. You do not have to enter a credit card. If you choose nothing after the trial, you drop back to the free plan automatically and your connector keeps working.
The free plan has 25 items per month and syncs hourly. The paid plans are on the pricing page: Standard (250 items, every 15 minutes) and Unlimited (no limit, every 5 minutes), cancellable monthly or cheaper per year.
What you need
For a connector you need access to both sides. You arrange that yourself, usually in a few minutes:
- An account at your sales channel or webshop, such as Bol.com, Shopify or WooCommerce.
- An account at your accounting package, such as Moneybird, Exact Online or e-Boekhouden.
- API access to both. For Bol.com you create a Client ID and Client Secret (guide); for Shopify your own app (guide); for Moneybird an API token (guide). Each system has its explanation with screenshots in the setup guides.
What an item is and what it costs
A plan's limit counts items per month; what exactly falls under that is on the pricing page. Below are the plans you can pick after the trial. With two accounts of the same type, for example two Bol.com accounts, the second costs 50% less. The rest of the explanation is on that page.
What the first day looks like
You create your API access, hand it to Schakel, choose which ledger accounts the amounts land on and see the first invoices in a preview before anything is final. Setting up takes a few minutes per system. After that the connector runs in the background: new sales are booked without you opening anything, and if a sync fails it is retried.
During the trial you can compare calmly: put the first invoices next to your own figures and check that the amounts, rates and ledger accounts are what you would book yourself. If something is off, adjust your settings before you pick a plan.
What you do not need
You do not have to code or install anything, and no plugin is needed. Everything runs through the API access you create yourself and can always revoke.

Honest limits
- Schakel books your sales in your accounting package. It is not an accountant, does not file VAT returns and does not give tax advice.
- You check the preview during setup. After that you look every now and then whether the bookings match what you expect.
- The free plan has a limit of 25 items per month and syncs hourly. If you go above that you pick a paid plan.
- What can be fetched depends on the API of Bol.com, Shopify and the other systems.
- You can stop at any time and revoke your API access at the source.
