Connect Amazon to Twinfield: orders from across Europe as a sales transaction with the right VAT
Anyone selling on Amazon rarely sells only in the Netherlands. The same Seller Central account delivers orders from amazon.nl, amazon.de, amazon.fr and other European marketplaces, each with a different VAT consequence. Twinfield is precise about that: for an intra-Community supply it expects extra data on the VAT code. Schakel pulls your Amazon orders through the SP-API and books them as a sales transaction in Twinfield, with the buyer country attached.

What travels across the link
Everything this connector moves between Amazon and Twinfield, and how often.
-
One app for all marketplaces
You create your own SP-API app in Seller Central once. It covers all your European marketplaces, so you repeat nothing per country. In Schakel you choose which marketplaces are booked.
-
Sales transaction after shipment
By default Schakel waits until Amazon marks an order as shipped before it is booked. An order from today therefore shows up in Twinfield only after shipment, and a cancelled order never gets there.
-
VAT code for supply within the EU
For a VAT code of the intra-Community type Twinfield makes extra fields mandatory: the performance type, the country, the VAT number and the performance date. Schakel fills those from the data of the order, so a supply to a business buyer in the EU does not stall on a missing field.
-
Buyer with name and address
Amazon only releases the buyer’s name and address if your app has the role Tax Invoicing (Restricted). Without those two there can be no valid invoice with the transaction. Schakel only asks for that role and read rights.
-
How Amazon and Twinfield talk
Amazon strictly limits the number of order requests, so a second manual sync may have to wait. Twinfield provides a cluster address via login.twinfield.com and accepts transactions via ProcessXml, per office code. Amazon has no webhook we use; Schakel polls.
-
Worked example (fictional)
Example: an order of 60.00 incl. 19% German VAT to a consumer in Germany is 50.42 revenue and 9.58 VAT. An order of 100.00 excl. to a German business buyer with a VAT number is 100.00 revenue with the intra-Community supply code and no VAT. The amounts are invented.

Setting it up
- 01
Create an SP-API app in Seller Central
As the primary user of a professional seller account you create an app under Develop Apps, with the role Tax Invoicing (Restricted). You copy the Client ID, the Client Secret and the refresh token. The latter is shown only once.
- 02
Grant access to Twinfield
You sign in to Twinfield, give permission and choose the office the transactions should go into.
- 03
Assign journal, accounts and VAT codes
You choose the sales journal, the revenue account and per country or kind of sale the VAT code, including those for intra-Community supply and for OSS if you use it.
- 04
Check and let it run
The first transactions stay provisional in Twinfield. After that new orders keep flowing and errors show up in the log with the Twinfield text.

Common questions
Is the Amazon to Twinfield connector available?
Request this connector and get access. You let us know you want to link Amazon to Twinfield, and we make sure you can get started. You hear from us within 24 hours.
Why do the invoices lack the buyer’s name and address?
Then your app lacks the role Tax Invoicing (Restricted). Open the app in Develop Apps, tick the role and click Authorize app again: a token created before the change carries the old rights.
Why do I not see today’s orders yet?
Schakel waits until Amazon marks the order as shipped. As soon as that happens, the transaction follows in the next round. Otherwise check that the marketplace is switched on in the settings.
How does this work with OSS?
If you use the One Stop Shop, you book a sale to a consumer in another EU country at the rate of that country. You assign the VAT code per country in Twinfield and Schakel chooses based on the buyer country.
What if my refresh token expires?
A token that is unused for a year expires. As long as the connector runs, it uses the token every round and that does not happen. If you lose it, click Authorize app again in Seller Central for a new token.
Can I book several marketplaces into one Twinfield office?
Yes. All marketplaces under your account can land in the same office. If you want to keep them apart, give each marketplace its own cost centre.
Can you connect Amazon to Twinfield?
Yes. Schakel connects through the official APIs of Amazon and Twinfield, so you install nothing on your own server and nothing travels outside those two parties.
Which VAT rate do my sales get in Twinfield?
The rate is set per line: 21%, 9% or 0%. Sales to Belgium and other EU countries get the rate of the destination country, ready for your OSS return.
