Connect Bol.com to Jortt: every completed order as an invoice, without any mail going to your buyer

Jortt is made for entrepreneurs who do their own bookkeeping. That suits many Bol.com sellers, but Jortt has a few quirks a connector has to handle: an invoice that starts as a draft through the API, books that only work in euro and an amount field that already includes VAT. Schakel pulls your orders through the Bol.com Retailer API and turns them into invoices in Jortt, without Jortt mailing anything to your buyer.

What travels across the link

Everything this connector moves between Bol.com and Jortt, and how often.

  1. Invoices only for a completed order

An order is invoiced as soon as every unit is shipped or cancelled. That stops you issuing an invoice for something that never left: Bol.com only lets a unit be cancelled before it ships, so it never needs a credit note.

  2. Final, with no email to the buyer

Through the API Jortt always creates an invoice as a draft. Schakel then finalises it with the send method Jortt calls "I send it myself", so it gets a number and lands on your VAT return while nothing is sent. The customer is deliberately given no email address.

  3. Returns as a negative invoice

A return that Bol.com refunds becomes a negative invoice for the number of units that went back. Through the API Jortt can only credit a whole invoice, with no amount. A partial return therefore needs a line of its own.

  4. Bol costs as an expense

If you want it, the invoice from Bol.com itself (commission, shipping labels, advertising) is filed as an expense in Jortt. That is off by default, and Jortt only allows expenses on plans that include them.

  5. How Jortt talks: the API in short

Jortt uses OAuth 2.0 with version 3 of the API. Amounts with net_amounts set to true include VAT, despite the name. VAT sits on a line as a fraction (0.21, not 21). Currency is euro only. A cost-type expense must not carry VAT lines: Jortt derives the VAT itself.

  6. Worked example (fictional)

Example: two units at 10.00 plus 4.95 shipping, all incl. 21% VAT, becomes 24.95 incl. and 20.62 excl. VAT. The order gets the reference BOL and the order number; if a return follows, the negative invoice gets the reference BOL-CN and the return number. The amounts are invented.

What you get out of it

What Bol.com to Jortt saves you

  • Your Bol.com revenue is in Jortt as real invoices and counts towards your VAT return.
  • Jortt never mails your buyer.
  • Sales in dollars or pounds are skipped with a reason instead of booked at an invented rate.
  • An order at 23:30 on the last day of the quarter falls in that quarter.
In four steps

Setting it up

  1. 01

    Connect Bol.com

You paste the Client ID and Client Secret of your Bol.com Retailer API into Schakel. If you sell through several Bol.com shops, you add each shop separately.

  2. 02

    Connect Jortt

You click Connect with Jortt, sign in and approve reading and writing customers, invoices and expenses. You do not have to create an application yourself. If you have several administrations, you connect them one at a time.

  3. 03

    Confirm your sender address

Confirm the sender address of your administration in Jortt under Instellingen and Facturen. Until that is done, Jortt refuses to finalise invoices and they stay drafts.

  4. 04

    Check and let it run

You review the first invoices. After that new orders keep flowing, and an order that fails is held with the reason instead of skipped.

What you need

  • A Bol.com seller account with a Client ID and Client Secret for the Retailer API
  • A Jortt administration whose sender address you have confirmed
  • To file Bol costs as an expense: a Jortt plan that allows expenses

Common questions

Is the Bol.com to Jortt connector available?

Request this connector and get access. You let us know you want to link Bol.com to Jortt, and we make sure you can get started. You hear from us within 24 hours.

Why do my invoices show as drafts in Jortt?

Then the sender address in Jortt is not yet confirmed. Jortt does create the invoice, but only finalises it once that address is confirmed. A draft has no number and does not count towards your VAT return. Confirm the address and the waiting drafts are finalised after all.

Can I book in another currency in Jortt?

No, Jortt only works in euro. Schakel skips orders in another currency with a reason in the log, rather than booking them at a rate that is not yours.

Does a partial return work?

Yes. Because through the API Jortt can only credit a whole invoice, Schakel makes a negative invoice of its own for the number of units that went back. A return for which Bol.com does not refund, for example because the customer keeps and pays for the product, is not credited.

How far back can a first import go?

The Bol.com orders API reaches back about three months. Older sales cannot be pulled by the connector; you book those once yourself in Jortt.

Can I connect several Jortt administrations?

Yes, one at a time. You connect the first, repeat the steps for the next and sign in to the administration you want to add each time.

Can you connect Bol.com to Jortt?

Yes. Schakel connects through the official APIs of Bol.com and Jortt, so you install nothing on your own server and nothing travels outside those two parties.

Which VAT rate do my sales get in Jortt?

The rate is set per line: 21%, 9% or 0%. Sales to Belgium and other EU countries get the rate of the destination country, ready for your OSS return.
