Returns
Approve small returns automatically with "keep it", so you do not pay a return label for an 8 euro item.
A return label costs a few euro, and then you still have to unpack, check and restock the parcel. On an 8 euro item, that whole trip often costs more than the product is worth.
Schakel looks at the value of every return request. If it stays under your threshold, Schakel approves the return with "keep it": the customer gets their money back and sends nothing back. The buyer gets a mail about it.
Everything above your threshold stays with you. Schakel does nothing with those, you judge them yourself.
What it does
- You set a threshold amount. 25 euro by default.
- Returns under the threshold are approved with the Bol.com result CUSTOMER_KEEPS_PRODUCT_PAID: the customer keeps the product and gets a refund.
- Returns whose reason needs eyes on the goods stay with you, even under the threshold: defective, damaged, wrong item, incomplete and not ordered.
- The buyer gets a mail telling them they can keep the product.
- Everything above the threshold stays open for you to handle yourself.
How to switch it on
Choose your threshold
Work out what a return really costs you: the label, the unpacking and the time. Anything under that is not worth shipping back. The default threshold is 25 euro.
Turn the "keep it" mail on or off
The buyer would rather hear it from you than hear nothing at all. If you prefer to communicate yourself, turn the mail off.
Turn returns on
New return requests are judged from then on. The log shows what was approved and why.

Common questions
What is a sensible threshold?
Add up your own costs: the return label, plus the time to open, check and restock the parcel. If that lands around 8 to 10 euro, a threshold of 15 to 25 euro usually makes sense. You can adjust it at any time.
What happens to returns above the threshold?
Nothing. They stay as they were, and you handle them yourself in your seller account.
Can someone abuse this?
This is not fraud detection. Below your threshold Schakel approves a return unless the reason needs somebody to look at the goods: defective, damaged, wrong item, incomplete or not ordered. Those are left alone. What really caps it is the threshold: above it you judge everything yourself, so the expensive cases always stay with you.
Does the customer get a refund?
Yes. The return is approved with a refund, just without the shipment back. For the customer it is settled, for you it costs no postage and no handling.
