Catawiki

Connect Catawiki

Catawiki is the online auction house for special objects: art, collectibles, jewellery, watches, classic cars and wine. There is no fixed price: each lot is unique and goes to the highest bidder when the auction closes. After that you get an order to ship and Catawiki nets a seller fee. Schakel reads those won auctions through the API, books them into your administration and marks the sold lot off in your own webshop.

What travels with Catawiki

  • Won auction into your books

Every won auction becomes, after close, a sales invoice with the lot as a line, the buyer as a contact and the Catawiki order number as reference.

  • Unique lot marked sold

Each lot is unique and sells only once. As soon as the auction closes and sells, Schakel sets the webshop stock to 0.

  • Seller fee apart

Catawiki nets a seller fee on the hammer price. That fee is booked separately on its own ledger account, so your proceeds per lot are right.

  • VAT and cross-border

Buyers sit across Europe. Lines get the right VAT rate, with the margin scheme where it applies to used or art objects.

  • Returns, when they happen

A return or dispute becomes a credit invoice for the refunded amount and the lot returns as stock 1 in your webshop.

Why connect Catawiki

  • A won auction becomes an invoice at once, no retyping.
  • A unique lot leaves your webshop the moment it sells.
  • The seller fee sits apart, your proceeds per lot are right.
  • VAT and margin scheme right for art, collectibles and cross-border.

Catawiki, common questions

When does Schakel make an invoice from an auction?

Once the auction closes and the lot sells to the highest bidder, an order appears. Schakel turns that into a sales invoice with the buyer as a contact.

Is the seller fee booked separately?

Yes. Catawiki nets a fee on the hammer price. Schakel puts it on its own ledger account, so your revenue and net proceeds per lot are right.

Can Schakel handle the margin scheme for art and collectibles?

Yes. For used, art and collectible objects you can set the margin scheme, so VAT runs over the margin only. Cross-border gets the right country rate.

What happens to a sold lot in my webshop?

Each lot sits at stock 1. Once the auction sells, Schakel sets stock to 0, so the same unique object is not sold twice.
